John & Elsie Krikorian were the founders and editors of Business Life Magazine which has provided the Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena and Verdugo communities and surrounding areas with local business and economic news for over 30 years.  The Krikorians were focused on identifying diversity within the business community and providing ways in which stellar business professionals could be identified and recognized. Their signature Women Achievers Event, launched in 1990, was a pioneering idea for women professionals and has now grown to welcome an annual sell-out crowd with business and mentoring workshops and awards celebrating top women achievers.  John’s passing in 2013 and Elsie’s passing in 2015 inspired Business Life Magazine and the community to create a scholarship that would recognize deserving female students pursuing a career in journalism, marketing, or business management.     

 

This scholarship is offered to a female graduating senior of a high school (public or private) in the Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Foothills Community (La Crescenta, La Canada-Flintridge), or surrounding areas. The student must be studying Journalism, Marketing or Business Management.  This scholarship considers financial need.

 

Since its inception, the John & Elsie Krikorian/Women Achievers Journalism Scholarship has awarded 13 scholarships made possible through contributions made by Women Achievers Awardees and community members.  Congratulations to past recipients:
